After 16,000 miles and a long two years of writing and editing (which I wrote about here), my private LONGEST ROAD journey is nearly complete. Now, with the book publishing next Tuesday, July 16, it goes public. Looking forward to finally having the book out there for all to enjoy.
It’s been interesting reading the early reaction to the book on Amazon and GoodReads, and now the media and blog reviews are starting to roll in. I especially enjoyed this recent one from National Geographic’s blog IntelligentTraveler.com:
“Caputo is keenly attuned to the natural wonders of our country, and to the time-perspective they bestow. But he is equally attuned to the human wonders, and movingly portrays a cavalcade of fellow travelers, restaurant workers, small-town business owners, and other unforgettable characters. … While Caputo’s account has its moments of disillusion and near disaster, in its entirety Caputo creates a kind of verbal fireworks display that illuminates the United States in all its diverse and yet indivisible glory.”
The following link isn’t to a review but rather a nicely done Q&A by The Chicago Tribune about how I came to write THE LONGEST ROAD, what some of my influences were, and an overview of what I learned on the journey.

I’ll be doing a lot more interviews, in print and on the radio, and will post links on my Reviews page and my Author Events page (if I think of it ahead of time), so make sure to visit those pages.
Mostly, I’m very interested to hear your comments on the book. I would like to ask you to post them publicly at Amazon and GoodReads, so that many other potential readers will see them, but would be happy to read them here on my website, too.
